Yulia Dementieva

Dr. Dementieva received her Ph.D. in discrete mathematics from Emory University, Atlanta and her M.S. in Probability and Statistics from St. Petersburg State University, Russia.
Dementieva is a recipient of Marshall’s Fabulous Faculty Award. She has taught an array of Mathematics courses, many of which she co-developed, including Calculus I (Honors), Elementary Linear Algebra, Introductory Statistics, Applied Probability and Statistics (Special Topics), Calculus for Business, Discrete Structures, and Forensic Statistics.
Dr. Dementieva’s main research area is Statistical Genetics. Specifically, she performs statistical analyses for a research group that aims to identify genes that are susceptible to human disease, such as Alzheimer’s, autism, and cardiovascular diseases. In addition, she is developing new statistical methods that can be applied to such research. Dr. Dementieva is also interested in Graph Theory and Combinatorics.
