James Leonard

James Leonard is a native of Huntington, West Virginia. He received his Ph.D. in 2001 from the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Leonard became a member of the Marshall Geography faculty in the Fall of 2001. His areas of teaching and research interest are North America, West Virginia, geographic education, cultural geography (religion, social issues), and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Dr. Leonard is the director of the interdisciplinary GIScience minor and certificate programs at Marshall University. He is also director of the Geography Department GIS Lab in Harris Hall 202. He regularly teaches Principles of GIS and Vector Analysis GIS, and, two International courses, United State and Canada, and, World Regional Geography.
